Ruperts
Become a Rupert and save on your favourite tipple...
In the Ludlow tradition, the Old Street Tavern is also known by the name of its previous incarnation, The Rupert. First recorded as a pub in 1642, the tavern was named for Prince Rupert of the Rhine – civil war soldier, naval squadron commander, inventor, philosopher, first governor of the Hudson's Bay Company, owner of a telepathic commando witch-poodle, ubiquitous cavalier, and generally all-round interesting chap.
Clearly a man with an appetite, we're pretty sure he would have spent his time in Ludlow propping up the bar at the tavern, and not only at weekends. So, in his honour (and, frankly, to help keep trade up at quieter times), we drop our prices a little for friends from Sunday through to 6 o'clock on Thursday afternoon.
To become a Rupert (friend of the O.S.T.) simply sign up to the newsletter to keep abreast of our upcoming events, offers, and general goings on. Then quietly declare yourself a Rupert at the bar and let the drink flow.
