P.O.S.T. #9 - In vino veritas

From the Old Street Tavern in Ludlow, Shropshire, this is the ultimate newsletter - it contains news of the beer line-up, up-coming gigs, and the all-important Rupert's Password.

GUEST BEERS

CASK

Mmmm ... beer ...

Our wonderful house beers are locals HPA, a polished real ale at 4%, and Butty Bach, a marvellous premium ale at 4.5% – both from Wye Valley Brewery.

This week, we are delighted to welcome the following:

Dissolution from Kirkstall Brewery – is a classic India Pale Ale, with a resolute hoppy kick and lasting citrus finish. 5.0%

Bishop's Farewell from Oakham - A golden, premium beer with a smooth, malty background, rich and fruity hop flavours and a refreshing finish. 4.6%

Crop Circle from Hopback Brewery – A very clean, flaxen-coloured beer with wonderful thirst-quenching properties. 4.2%

KEG

Mmmm ... more beer ...

Our house regulars ABK Hells, Konrad Pilsner, Rattler Cornish Cider, Long Mynd Cider, and Forged Stout are joined this week by:

NEIPA 4 by Howling Hops - Thick, mellow and nourishing, No.4 in the series combines HBC 638, Citra and Warrior. Expect bright citrus, fresh florals and juicy tropical fruits. 5.9%

Versaints

Last Saturday the mighty Versaints were unplugged, acoustic, and typically brilliant. If you don't know them, it's worth catching them here while you can, because you won't be able to soon - they're playing here again on 13th December.

This week we have a book signing by the inimitable Bob Moran, formally the Telegraph's political cartoonist, and a good friend of the Old Street Tavern. His work, all done by hand, is mordant, challenging and above all, humane. Come along for a beer and a chat, and bring some cash for a copy of the new book!

Rupert’s password this week is “Distinctive”.

We continue the increasingly wintry autumn season with music from Jacko & The Magic Men, Versaints, electronic sonic and visual mischief-making from Flip Music, poetry and Christmas story readings from Gareth Owen and Peter Hayter, and opera from Trovatorri.

Have a look at the box office for the full line-up.
