LIVE MUSIC

This Friday 20th we’re getting all over-excited about having McDermott & North – an Australian duo from Brisbane - come over to play. They do original, 60s & 70s-inspired folk, rock and indie reminiscent of Simon & Garfunkel. Their EP The Hollywood EP achieved critical acclaim, and garnered substantial airplay on BBC Radio London and Australia-wide Triple J.

You can listen to their recorded work here:
McDermott & North
Singer-songwriters Patrick McDermott and Rhys North share a rare and enigmatic musical talent. Emerging from Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley in 2015, the duo McDermott & North have already drawn praise from the Australian and international music industry alike. Staying true to their busking roots, the pair approach every performance with the same precision and meticulous attention to sound. It is with this humility that they have elevated themselves as live performers and captivated the likes of Australia’s very own Ben Lee and Alex Lloyd whom they shared the stage with in 2021. Their most recent singles ‘Ally’, ‘Georgia’ & ‘All Things Come And Go’ have received generous support from both Triple J & National NZ Radio as well as BBC Radio London. But most importantly, the indie-rock outfit have amassed an impressive and hardcore following everywhere they park their van

This marks the start of a busy Autumn season of lovely, filling and very live music at the Tavern, watch this space for the full line-up.

GUEST BEERS

CASK

Our wonderful house beers are locals HPA, a polished real ale at 4%, and Butty Bach, a marvellous premium ale at 4.5% – both from Wye Valley Brewery. Joining them this week are:

Madness from Green Duck Beer Company in Stourbridge is a Slovenian pale ale, brewed with Slovenian Dragon and Styrian Kolibri hops – a sweet, smooth, fruity hop fest with a bitter finish. 4.5%.

Coppa Kettle from Hobsons Brewery at 3.4% is a session copper ale, brewed with Hersbruker, Fuggles and First Gold Hops. Expect a full, up-front hop flavour, followed by a crisp bitterness. Maris Otter Malting Barley and Caramalt provide a balanced maltiness and copper appearance.

KEG

Regulars ABK Hells, Konrad Pilsner, Rattler Cornish Cider, and Forged Stout are joined this week by:

Electric Boogaloo by Tiny Rebel is a NEIPA with a medium, to almost dry body, with a sweet stone tropical fruit flavour, finishing with passionfruit. 4.5%.

Artificial Plantation by Pollys Brew Co comes in at 5.0%, and has an undercurrent of resinous bitterness to balance the all-out attack of pineapple, tangerine, berries, stonefruit and passionfruit from our heavy lashing of cold side additions. It’s a pale ale that packs the punch of one of the big beers, but condensed to a pintable strength.

Single Hop No.4 (Centennial) from Howling Hops is a soft & juicy 4.8% pale ale from the heart of Hackney Wick. Its base showcases the Centennial hop - a stone-cold classic and godfather of the modern IPA, with piney, dank deliciousness.
